Talurit Group launches the new Talurit® 400T 1VS single-pillar swager for faster, quieter and more efficient production

Talurit Group continues to advance its testing portfolio with the launch of the Talurit® DB Upgrade Kit, a complete retrofit solution that brings the latest Talurit® testing technology to existing test beds. Typically suitable for systems from 40 to 150 tonnes, and compatible with test beds from Talurit® and other manufacturers alike, the kit renews the hydraulic power unit and control system while retaining the existing frame and cylinders.

A well-built test bed frame is made to last for decades, while hydraulics, electronics and software develop at a much faster pace. By reusing the existing structure — typically around three tonnes of steel frame and cylinders — customers avoid the cost and material footprint of a completely new machine while bringing their testing capability up to today’s standards. The kit itself is delivered as a compact, pre-assembled unit weighing approximately 180 kg, which simplifies installation and keeps downtime to a minimum.

At its core is a 5.5 kW Talurit® VS power pack with two hydraulic pumps for precise speed control, and a digitally controlled proportional pressure regulating valve for accurate and flexible load output. An integrated oil cooler allows for a compact 70-litre hydraulic tank, reducing oil volume and improving energy efficiency.

Operators work through the same intuitive touchscreen software found on the latest generation of Talurit® test beds. Break, proof, hold and dynamic tests are supported by pre-set procedures, a customer and product database and recipe management with direct import from spreadsheets. Load and elongation are displayed in real time, and every test generates a unique certificate in PDF and digital test file formats, with customisable headers and footers for the customer’s own branding.

Safety is built into the system through guarding sensors, cylinder piston protection and sample pre-tensioning, while capacity is automatically limited whenever the guarding is open. A dedicated remote control allows precise cylinder movements during rigging. Upgraded test beds can be calibrated to Class 1 of EN ISO 7500-1.

Every upgrade starts with an individual assessment of the existing test bed by Talurit Group’s engineering department. Installation can be carried out as an add-on service or by the customer’s own team. Once installed, the machine is backed by Talurit® technical support throughout its lifetime, including remote diagnostics and troubleshooting.

Darren Harper, Sales Manager at Talurit UK Ltd, comments:
“Many test houses and rigging lofts have test beds with a solid frame and plenty of service life left in them. The DB Upgrade Kit lets them bring those machines up to today’s standards for testing, certification and safety without investing in a completely new one. And because it also fits test beds from other manufacturers, we can offer that to a much wider range of customers.”

Rikard Reijer, Chief Engineer at Talurit Group, comments:
“When the mechanical parts of a test bed still have years of useful life remaining, but the hydraulics and electronics have become outdated, we see a sustainable opportunity to give the equipment a new life. We focused on renewing the areas where technology has moved forward: the hydraulics, control system and software. We then packaged these upgrades into a single unit designed for straightforward installation.”

Talurit Group has served the wire rope industry for over 75 years, and its test beds are engineered and manufactured in Sweden. With this upgrade kit, they continue to refine proven designs with new technology to improve productivity, user experience and operational safety for generations to come, now also for the equipment customers already own.
