Talurit® Swaging Systems

ST/SLST – Carbon Steel Turnback Ferrule

SKU: ST 17 – ST 21 / SLST 23 – SLST 39 Category:

The Talurit®  SL and SLST carbon steel turnback ferrules are designed for superior mechanical wear resistance and have been rigorously validated according to EN 13411-3 standards. Manufactured from high-quality carbon steel, these ferrules comply fully with industry standards, ensuring reliable performance in demanding applications.

Our ST and SLST turnback ferrules share the same smart design and differs only in their size availability and manufacturing process. The ST model is available in sizes 17 to 21 and is produced through cold forming, where it is extruded seamlessly over a mandrel. In contrast, the SLST model, available in sizes 23 to 39, is manufactured through hot forming, with the steel extruded seamlessly over a mandrel in a heated state. These production techniques enhance the ferrules’ structural integrity and performance in relation to their size.

The ST/SLST ferrule system is engineered for durability and resistance to harsh conditions. Ideal for environments with higher risks of corrosion, elevated temperatures, and specialized dragging applications, the carbon steel construction provides enhanced longevity and strength. This system is an excellent alternative to the traditional Flemish eye, offering the simplicity and robust benefits of a straight turnback system. The ST/SLST system ensures a guaranteed 90% of the wire rope’s minimum breaking load (MBL) when installed according to Talurit® splicing instructions, complying fully with EN 13411-3 standards, which underscores its reliability and safety.

Premium ferrules & fittings for mechanical splicing of wire rope

When it comes to wire rope assemblies, ferrules and fittings play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and strength of the system as a whole.

Ferrules are metal sleeves used to terminate wire ropes by crimping or swaging them onto the rope. These sleeves are typically made of materials like aluminum, copper, or stainless steel, chosen for their durability and corrosion resistance. Fittings, on the other hand, refer to the end attachments, such as hooks, eyes, or links, that connect the wire rope assembly to other components or structures.

In wire rope assemblies, ferrules are used to secure the ends of the wire rope by compressing them tightly around the strands, creating a strong and reliable termination point. Fittings are then attached to these terminated ends to allow for connections to be made with other equipment or structures. This combination of ferrules and fittings ensures that the wire rope assembly can withstand heavy loads, vibrations, and other environmental factors.
