The Original: Revolutionizing the rigging & wire rope industry
At the heart of Talurit Group’s legacy lies the revolutionary T-ferrule, the original innovation that reshaped the wire rope industry. Our story begins with our founder, Gerhard Rohland, a visionary, entrepreneur, and inventor who was the son of a rope manufacturer. After World War II, facing a scarcity of skilled workers, Gerhard recognized the need for a more efficient and safer method of wire rope splicing. His determination and ingenuity led to the creation of the T-ferrule, a metal sleeve that securely pressed together wire ropes, laying the foundation for mechanical splicing.
In 1948, upon arriving in Sweden as a war refugee, Gerhard refined his invention and successfully patented the product and method. This innovation laid the grounds for the European standard and set new benchmarks for efficiency and safety in wire rope applications. The introduction of the T-ferrule marked the beginning of a new era in the industry, one characterized by enhanced safety and performance.

Since its introduction by us at Talurit Group in the 1940s, the method of mechanical splicing of wire rope has been widely adopted around the world. It is renowned for its superior efficiency compared to other splicing methods. The technique is not only safe and easy to learn but also ensures robust performance. Our splicing methods have been validated according to EN 13411-3, guaranteeing that each termination can withstand a tensile strength of at least 90% of the wire rope's minimum breaking load.

The Talurit® T-ferrule aligns with the European standard (FSET) for turnback ferrule or ferrule secured eye termination. Manufactured in compliance with the EN 13411-3 standard, this ferrule is crafted from seam-free extrusions, seamlessly extruded over a mandrel using aluminum alloy AW-5051A as per EN 573-3.
