Talurit® Swaging Systems

400T – Swager

SKU: P 0400T 2VS Category:

The TALURIT® 400T 2VS swager is a medium-range swager that comes generously equipped with several value-adding features as standard. The 400T swager is designed to be an all-around machine, perfect for medium-size wire ropes. The special hydraulic design combined with variable speed and a smart control system allows the operator to tailor the performance of the machine and make the swaging operation highly efficient. On the touch screen the operator can easily monitor settings such as piston control, speed and pre-set force.

  • Powerful yet compact
  • Versatile & flexible
  • Safe & reliable
  • User friendly
  • Compatible with many types of dies

The variable speed function and the smart control system allow the 400T swager to utilize the power of the motor in a new way that gives superior swaging performance using less power. Furthermore, the working environment is enhanced through automatic control of the sound level, minimizing it to 50 dB when not swaging.

The 400T Swager is designed for high strength, long service life and minimal maintenance. The design of the body is optimized to give open access to the swaging area, allowing for a larger space for the operator to work within. The 400T swager is also equipped with a larger die holder than what is usual for the size. This means that a greater range of die sets can be used and more importantly; the swager can handle larger ferrule sizes in multiple swage operations.

The 400T Swager of Talurit® brand is controlled by an electric foot pedal that permits the operator to use both hands to handle the rope assembly when swaging. In addition to the standard up/down function, the foot pedal on the 400T swager has a ‘hold’ position toggle to facilitate rope/eye adjustment and to make the tool set-up quicker. Other settings such as the pre-set swaging force, speed and return distance are all set on the touch screen.

Directly after releasing the foot pedal or when the set pressure is reached, the piston retracts in high speed to further improve the speed of the swaging cycle. After reaching the operator’s determined return distance, the hydraulic unit goes into an idle mode, dramatically reducing the sound and energy usage to a low level. When pressing the foot pedal again the hydraulic unit instantly reacts and the piston, with high acceleration, reaches the set speed.

Variable speed

The variable speed feature is not only allowing for a superior speed over the full swaging cycle, but also allows the operator to control the speed of the swaging operation. By turning the speed adjustment to the maximum, the piston will swage at a speed of 10 mm/s and as it builds pressure it will gradually slow down with a minimum value of 1,8 mm/s at a full force of 400 tonnes

Compared to conventional swagers, the Talurit® variable speed design has an overall higher speed over the cycle thanks to its gradual transition of force vs speed. Where a conventional swager turns from high to low speed at a given pressure, performing most of the swaging under low speed, the variable speed design remains at a higher speed throughout the cycle.

The column chart illustrates the estimated full stroke cycle times for a 400T 2VS swager and a conventional 600T (7,5 kW) swager. On average, the 400T 2VS swager has a time saving of 40% over the full cycle.

DIE HOLDER

The 400T swager is standard equipped with guided die holders. This means that the machine will absorb the eccentrically applied forces coming from swaging operations where the end stop/sleeve/terminal is turned and swaged repeatedly. Typically, this is done when swaging Flemish eye, end stops and terminals. The guided die holders will ensure minimum wear caused by these types of swaging operations.

There is also an option to mount the die holders in either a square or angled position depending on the operator’s preferences. An angular mount will give the operator a better view of the full length of the die set while the square mount is allowing the operator to work more freely on both sides of the wire ropes.

For turnback swaging, many users prefer to have the die set angular to be able to control the loop better from the forward position, while the square mount is popular when swaging Flemish and terminals.

Touch screen

On the user-friendly 10” touch screen, all settings of the swager can be accessed easily and the feedback from the machine is displayed easily. The touch screen is designed to help the operator improve production cycle time and reduce operator movements as well as wear of the die sets and machine.

Built-in Oil Cooler

The 400T swager has a built-in oil cooler which allows the swager to endure even longer working hours and harsher climates. The oil cooler is automatically controlled via temperature sensors to keep the oil temperature within the optimal range. This allows the 400T swager to use less oil.

Silencer

As a way of further improving the work environment for the operators, the 400T swager comes standard-equipped with a silencing package which gives a lower noise level during operation. Approx. 70 dB (A).

Sustainable design & manufacturing

The Talurit® design and engineering work aim toward efficient resource usage. Less hydraulic oil is used, optimized usage of casted steel in the body is drastically reducing the manufacturing footprint while smart usage of electrical power is applied to reduce impact under usage.

The design of our products combined with our production capabilities gives a durable and reliable machine. To prolong the lifetime of our products further, Talurit® offers spare parts and maintenance support for all our machines.

This swager is good to combine with our die sets, made from 100% reused steel. Not only giving a lower impact on the environment but also leading to a purer material with a long lifetime.

  • Efficient usage of material & power
  • Short process cycle time
  • Small hydraulic tank
  • Highly durable water-based paint
