Was ist das mechanische Spleißen von Drahtseilen?
Mechanisches Spleißen von Drahtseilen ist ein Verfahren, bei dem zwei Drahtseilenden miteinander verbunden werden, indem eine Metallhülse, Presshülse oder ein Beschlagteil über die Enden gestülpt/gepresst wird. Beim mechanischen Spleißen ist kein manuelles Spleißen, Schweißen oder Löten erforderlich. Die Methode des mechanischen Spleißens wurde von Gerhard Rohland, dem Gründer von Talurit®, in den 1940er Jahren erfunden. Seitdem haben wir bei Talurit Group diese Methode und die damit verbundenen Produkte perfektioniert.
Was sind die Vorteile des mechanischen Spleißens von Drahtseilen?
Durch mechanisches Spleißen bleibt die Festigkeit des Drahtseils zu über 90% erhalten, es ist leichter auf Defekte zu prüfen und es ist weitaus effizienter und kostengünstiger.
Ist mechanisches Spleißen für kritische oder risikoreiche Anwendungen geeignet?
Ja, mechanisches Spleißen kann bei einer Vielzahl von Anwendungen eingesetzt werden, auch bei kritischen und risikoreichen Anwendungen. Wenden Sie sich immer an einen qualifizierten Ingenieur oder Spezialisten, um die richtige Auswahl und Endverbindung sicherzustellen.
Wie unterscheidet sich das mechanische Spleißen von anderen Methoden der Drahtseilendverbindung?

What is a swager and how is it used for mechanical splicing of wire rope?

What types of swagers are available for mechanical splicing of wire rope?
There are manual hand swagers, hydraulic swagers, and pneumatic swagers, each offering varying levels of force and precision for different wire rope sizes and fittings. The most common type of swager is the hydraulic one. We at Talurit® have hydraulic swagers ranging from 5 to 4200 tonnes in swaging capacitty.
Wie kann ich die optimale Lebensdauer meines Pressbackensatzes sicherstellen?
Ensure the die bore is regularly lubricated prior to pressing the ferrules. The swaging dies should be clean and mounted/aligned according to our instructions. Do not apply more pressure than required to close the dies, and remove excess material.

If your press/swager fails to reach maximum pressure, there is probably a malfunction in the high-pressure function. This could be due to worn-out O-rings in the valve house or potential oil leakage from the main ram, indicating a need for replacement of the cylinder seals. We recommend reaching out to us for further assistance and guidance.
Are there specific safety precautions to follow when using a swager for wire rope splicing?
Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, follow the manufacturer's instructions, and ensure proper training and supervision when operating a swager to prevent accidents or injuries.
Would it be possible and safe to use standard swaging dies for INOX-ferrules? If not what are the contraindicators?
There are some differences between the swaging dies for aluminium/copper and steel/stainless steel. The material is differently hardened and in case of being overloaded, the dies might break. The geometry is different, especially in the area around the cutting edges. Flash material (side wings of surplus material) of stainless steel in a die for aluminium will instantly deform and demolish the dies. We recommend swaging stainless steel ferrules in the relevant steel swaging dies. It might work with standard dies for a couple of swages, but we point out there is a real risk of demolishing equipment and endangering personnel.

When should I use a T-LOC™?
T-LOC™ is a reinforcement for aluminium terminations, made from carbon steel and swaged together with a standard Talurit® turnback ferrule, type T. The innovative T-LOC™ reinforcement prevents the aluminium ferrule from splitting on very high loads, especially when using thimbles that create a wide loop angle, and is approved for wire ropes of grade 2160.
Can I use the same die set for both aluminium & steel ferrules?
No, the die profiles and heat treatment are different between die sets for aluminum ferrules and carbon steel ferrules.

We are regularly using class 1960 rope with MBF exceeding the indicated value in the table of EN 12385-4 for the used construction and diameter. Is a standard ferrule EN 13411-3 good enough in such cases?
Steel wire rope manufacturers are continuously developing their ropes and we note breaking forces of the same rope diameter and construction increased significantly in the past years. We are thus recommending using a reinforcement T-LOC™ even with ropes listed in class 1960 but with BF closer or even above class 2160 to protect the termination from outward forces resulting from higher MBF and the eye angle, i.e. especially with solid or round thimbles.
Can I use the same dies for different end terminations?
Generally, dies are shaped to fit specific ferrules, so different ferrules typically require different dies. However, some ferrules, such as TCK, RF, and RE (if they are the same size), can be swaged using the same dies.

What grade on the chains can your chain cutters handle?
Both our CC 50T and CC 40T are engineered for industrial and professional heavy-duty use. The CC 50T can cut chains up to Ø 26 mm in grade 100 (max hardness 48 HRC) and the CC 40T can cut chains up to Ø 22 in grade 8 (max hardness 44 HRC).
