MA 55 – Measuring Machine

The wire rope is placed directly into the unit and measuring is done with the aid of a high-precision incremental encoder. Any wire rope — with or without socket, terminal or turnback — can be measured without threading, and a lockable upper measuring wheel lets the operator position the rope freely before engaging. A spring-loaded counterweight prevents slippage as the rope passes through robust in- and outguides. The encoder is connected to a PLC and can be programmed with a final length and preselector contact to control connected units, like uncoiling or coiling machines.

A typical application is a semi-automatic spooling and cutting line. The MA 55 signals the coiling unit, e.g. UL 800 P, to slow down when a pre-selected length is reached and to stop at the final length. Significantly more compact and around a third lighter than the previous MA 45 ADV, it integrates easily into space-constrained environments. Its 4.3″ touch screen sits on a magnetic base for flexible, ergonomic positioning, and provides several in- and output signals, length calibration for maximum accuracy, and length conversion to show mm, cm, m, inch and feet.
