Any wire rope \u2014 with or without socket, terminal or turnback \u2014 can be measured without threading, and a lockable upper measuring wheel lets the operator position the rope freely before engaging. A spring-loaded counterweight prevents slippage as the rope passes through robust in- and outguides. The encoder is connected to a PLC and can be programmed with a final length and preselector contact to control connected units, like uncoiling or coiling machines.<\/p>\n<p>A typical application is a semi-automatic spooling and cutting line. The MA 55 signals the coiling unit, e.g. UL 800 P, to slow down when a pre-selected length is reached and to stop at the final length. Significantly more compact and around a third lighter than the previous MA 45 ADV, it integrates easily into space-constrained environments.
