The termination of the wire rope is secured with a mandrel\/pin on the test bench and the free length is clamped in the jaws of the fixing device. Typical usage of a fixing device is when testing a long rope, e.g. a drum of hoisting rope with one end termination only. For example; proof testing end stops on wire ropes for cranes or winch ropes and other similar applications.
